ABU DHABI, 22nd October 2015 (WAM) --- The Emirates Red Crescent Thursday stressed that it is intensifying its efforts to provide winter aid for Syrian and Palestinian refugees in Jordan, Iraq's Kurdistan Region, Pakistan, and underprivileged families in Bosnia, Albania and other countries in the Balkans.
Acting Deputy Secretary-General of the Emirates Red Crescent for international aid, Humaid Rashid Al Shamsi, said the agency is set to deliver shelter, blankets and relief supplies to refugees in the said countries as harsh weather conditions are expected for this winter.
Speaking at a meeting to coordinate the humanitarian agency's international efforts, Al Shamsi said the agency made notable efforts last year in helping refugees during winter.
The Emirates Red Crescent, he noted, is always ready to act quickly as part of international humanitarian response to natural disasters and armed conflicts despite security risks and difficulties in procuring supplies.
